Student Leadership

At Eastborough Primary Academy, as part of our Personal Development curriculum, there are several opportunities for pupils to take on roles of responsibility and become student leaders. The opportunities may be class based, or they made have wider Academy impact.

For instance, pupils may become Reading Ambassadors, Academy Councillors, Playground Buddies or Shopkeepers and Accountants in the ‘Dojo Shop.’

Whenever pupils have demonstrated commitment to a leadership role in the Academy, they are awarded the ‘Pupil Leadership’ card to add to their Delta Stars folder.

Academy Council

Children at Eastborough Academy demonstrated their understanding of the British Value of ‘democracy’ when Academy elections took place in the Autumn term. Children who wanted to be their class Academy Council representative, wrote an application explaining why they should be elected and the children in their class voted.

In Class 6, children who wanted to be elected as Head Pupil and Deputy Head Pupil wrote a manifesto, which they presented in front of the entire academy during assembly. Everyone had the opportunity to vote for the individual they felt would best represent their interests.

All Academy Councillors have committed to their leadership role by promising to act as role models within the academy. They must ensure that they consistently promote positive behaviour, have exemplary learning attitudes and have strong attendance. They understand that if they fail to uphold these values, they may lose their leadership position.

Congratulations to the following elected Academy Councillors.
